Virtual Assistant is an independent worker who does work on a contract basis providing assistance to his clients in administrative, technical, creative assistance, customer service, website design, book keeping, marketing services, project management, travel arrangements, writing newsletters for companies etc, the list is exhaustive.
Reasons, why employers hire virtual assistants:

The employer might have limited working space and hence limited number of staffers working in the office; they normally outsource the rest of the jobs to people who work from their homes. The employer saves money, as he need not pay for any additional benefits to virtual assistants, as they are not regular employees. Certain employers may not recruit people on a regular basis, as there might not be work available on a regular basis. Hence virtual assistants suit them the best. Also time-consuming projects are ideal to be outsourced to virtual assistants.

The employer can get the kind of work he requires from a virtual assistant say if he wants his website to be designed using Dream weaver instead of HTML, it is possible it as, the Virtual assistant takes care of it and the employer can focus his energy on more productive work.

Virtual assistants too are entrepreneur; hence their service is of great value, as often they may have their own network of people and resources, which can be used for the benefit of the employers. A virtual assistant can be situated anywhere in the world and still provide the services on time, in a competitive price with a wide range of services as expected by the employer.

The employers can select a virtual assistant by having a look at his previous jobs or by going through the testimonials provided on their websites or seeing their web pages. The portfolio pages help the employer determine the expertise and depth of knowledge of the virtual assistant.

Steps to be taken to become a successful virtual assistant:

Before deciding to become a virtual assistant, it is good to know what other Virtual assistants are offering in terms of price, certifications and memberships for just to find the crucial ones and try to follow, but no need to copy, as there needs to be originality and individuality.

Creating a website for your own benefit is very important. It need not be flashy, but can you offer simple one listing out the services. Networking with people is very important. Unless you tell that you offer services, people will not come to know. It is advised to join at least two to three groups for wider reachability.

As the virtual assistant industry is full of competition, you need to provide excellent services to stay ahead of others. Your work should speak. It is good to define the services you offer. Either the virtual assistant can be a generalist or can offer specialized services. It all depends on you and then market the same to the clients who offer you work to give the knowledge of what you are capable of handling.

Getting paid to read emails is one of the oldest concepts of making money online. Getting started with it is very easy, as the person who would like to enter into this earning opportunity requires having an email address alone with an Internet access. The concept is very simple. Many online advertisers send their advertisements through email to their members who would like to get paid for reading such emails as commissions. The member should click open the link and visit the website of the advertiser to earn money. If serious money has to be made, it is done through thousands of referrals introduced by the person under him. While doing so it is very important to choose only those companies that are legitimate in payment.

Making the paid email system work:

There are millions of products sold every day, every hour, as the products that are for sale should be known to everybody. Otherwise, it is not possible to sell them. This has made the concept of getting paid for reading emails emerge. When the members receive such promotional emails, they click the link to make them as if they have read them and get paid. This attitude has made many systems fail in the course of time. The advertiser wants people to have a look at his site not just to show they have been there but also to promote and earn revenue through their products and services. If revenue is not being generated from this kind of advertising the whole concept is lost and the system will ultimately fail. The following strategy will benefit both the advertiser and the person who is reading the emails to get paid.

The main aim of the person, who is going through the emails, is that he wants to earn money out of it. While doing so, if the person happens to come across some advertisement which may be lucrative to him and which is very affordable to buy he can buy it, as it may be a good deal to him. It needs to be bought in any case by the person either now or afterwards. If this continues the advertiser will also choose this option of placing their ads in the sites for paying to read, since they have tasted success through this concept. It becomes a win-win situation for both. Everyone buys products. It needn’t be from the same place. While reading promotional emails, in case of an opportunity of getting the product at a bargain price is found, it is wise to grab the opportunity. The person in turn can educate their referral members who are down the line with a customized email stating for whom they are working for and how they can too maximize the same way. It is not expected that everyone will take the advice and work accordingly, but if at least a minimum number of people take the advice, the system will survive for a longer term due to the results it produce.

An accounting career could be just the thing to bring you satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment. Along with medical and health related careers, accounting professionals are among the group of professions that are projected to see a lot of growth over the next few years.

Graduates of four year accountancy programs are earning 3.7% more in terms of starting pay straight out of college. Master’s degree holders are seeing a 4% increase in starting pay over the last couple of years.

There are many top notch two year accounting degree programs as well. Your choice really depends on many factors, including career objectives, the amount of money that you have to invest in an education or your ability to attain student loans, as well as what your schedule is like.

If you want to educate yourself on accounting in order to better manage your own small business or non-profit organization, chances are you’d do best with some classes from the local community college or other type of learning center.

In many larger cities and some towns, there are learning centers that offer a wide variety of classes, from cooking and home improvement to accounting. Ask around at your local public library or community college to find out about all the learning opportunities that your community has to offer.

For more serious study to put toward managing the finances of your business or organization, you may find that a community college has just the combination of classes that you’re looking for.

If you want to pursue an accounting career further, a community college is still one of the best places to start. If you have children or must work while attending school, community colleges are going to offer you the most flexibility in terms of scheduling.

For more information on the projected outlook for those in accounting careers, take a look at the government’s Occupational Outlook Handbook found at http://www.bls.gov/oco/. There is a great wealth of information here that can help you decide how satisfying various degrees and professions are likely to be over the coming years.

Questions To Ask During Your San Diego Job Interview

You’ve spent hours polishing your resume, and even more time searching for the perfect San Diego job online, and you are finally ready to move on to the next big step, the job interview. No matter how prepared you think you may be, there are still some things that even the most seasoned interviewee can do to make themselves stand out above the competition, and one is to simply ask the right questions.

Answering the questions that the interviewer asks you is only part of the interviewing process. When searching for the ideal San Diego job, it is important to have some interview questions of your own. Some possible questions to ask include, but are not limited to, the following.
How do you see me benefiting the company?
What type of advancement and growth opportunities does the company offer?
Does the company stress continuing education and professional training?
Why did you choose this company?
What is the culture of the company?
What would my first project or duty be if hired?
What are the specific job responsibilities of this position?
When will a hiring decision be made, and when will I be contacted?
Who can I contact if I have any additional questions?

If your recruiter isn’t able to answer all of these questions, they will at the very least be impressed by the amount of thought that you have put into the job interview process. So many candidates show up unprepared, wearing inappropriate attire, carrying surfboards, eating their lunch, drunk, and otherwise unprepared.

Anyone who has ever been involved in the hiring process has stories to share about people that they have interviewed. For example, there is the story, well circulated on the Internet, of the man who showed up for an interview wearing a bathing suit, carrying a surf board, and eating a large, smelly sandwich.

Other recruiters have reported that job candidates frequently ask them to hurry the interview along so that the candidate can catch the bus on time, and don’t bother to make eye contact or show any interest in the position that they are applying for.

This is why a smart, articulate, well dressed, prepared, friendly, and professional candidate really stands out above the rest. It may sound clichйd, but if you are serious about the interviewer, the recruiter will know that you will take any new San Diego job that you are offered, just as seriously, if not more so.

Time is the coin of your life. It is the only coin you have, and only you can determine how it will be spent. Be careful lest you let other people spend it for you.
                                                                          – Carl Sandburg

Time is precious. Time can easily pass us by. The problem is, time, if not managed can cause stress and anxiety. If you spend a greater percentage of your life harassed rather that being cool and collected, youre the one whos always gonna lose out. When there are projects to be done and deadlines can be so numerous and overwhelming — tension is always just a step behind.

The key is to apply the principles of time management so that we can get rid of things that suck the life out of you. To get rid of stress and anxiety, try following these tips to slay your time vampires:

l	Plan Your Day – One of the quickest way to waste the whole day is by waking up in the morning and you dont even have any kind of plan at all. You simply dont know what your priorities are. Many of us are sidelined by an unimportant emails, phone and mobile calls, telemarketers, noneducational T.V shows or endless searches in the Internet or abusing your chat program to people you dont know. Set aside some time to work out whats really important and stopped procrastinating. Use one planner to keep track of all your appointments. Write a to-do-list everyday. Based on the priorities youve identified, start with the most difficult jobs first. Start with those items or projects that really needs to be completed, label it as urgent or it can wait a little. Dont fill your day full of activities. Plan your time for family, recreation, spiritual and social activities.

l	Simplify – Streamline your to-do-list. For do some multi-tasking jobs to squeeze more time for example, paying your bills using a online banking facility in your computer. Stop being a slave to communication tools like your home phone, fax machine, cellular phone, e-mail and instant messaging software. Cut back on your television time. Start getting rid of your clutter. Youll be amaze how time you can save by throwing junk mail and canceling cable subscription—face it…there are T.V channels you rarely watch anyway.

l	Use Tools – Take advantage of your calendar, Filofax, PDA that will aid you in tracking your phone numbers, important reminders, and appointments. Youll save space in your bag by having all your data in one place or one gadget. File your documents in a expandable folder. Create file folders like Personal files, invoices to pay. Keep your business cards in a card holder.

l	Use online websites to save you more time.
A List of Time Wasters

You keep playing the latest PC games or using the new chat program and before you know it—time is gone. So what are the things that eat up your time? Check the following time wasters and know what your weaknesses are…

1.	Instant Messenger
2.	Forwarding jokes and what-have-you to your friends and family
3.	Joining too many social networking sites, egroups and chatrooms
4.	Gossiping during coffee break
5.	Too much paperwork
6.	Not saying the word no
7.	Computer games/online games
8.	Crossword puzzles
9.	Excessive T.V viewing
10.	Spending a long time talking over the phone

It just takes a little discipline. Time is a commodity and once it is gone, you can never have it back. Dont put-off important tasks for the last minute, and youll feel more in control of your life. Dont delay, set deadlines for yourself and best of all maintain also a high standard of getting things done on time.

Get paid to surf programs were once an easy method of earning money online. Such programs were in the peak during the year 2005. Get paid to surf programs started as means of online advertising. The paid to surf programs warranted registration with a surfing websites and viewing websites of other members and in turn they will get credit entitled by the person to have his website to be viewed by others. Actually speaking, the person does not even require watching the websites, as long as they keep accumulating which will entitle him to earn more credits even if he is not working.

In the late 2003s apart from advertising the website through auto surfing, an opportunity was provided to earn one percent on up gradation fee for one year each day for up graded memberships. This paved way to start similar paid to surf sites by several entrepreneurs. At the end of the year 2004, there were nearly 40 get paid to surf site programs running on the internet and at the end of year 2006 nearly 400 auto surf programs were running. Even though the paid to surf programs were easy sources of making money on the internet, there was some percentage of risk involved as earning money was not guaranteed by all the companies and some dubious companies due to greed killed the paid to surf industry considerably.

Earn Money Through Paid Surfing:

Many companies pay people for surfing the web. An advertisement will be displayed on the desktop when they get connected to the web and in turn the company will provide some percentage from the advertising revenue they get to the person who is viewing it. The amount thus got per hour is not huge, but it can be made big by referring to other people called the affiliates or referrals. This is by telling others about the paid to surf program and getting them into the loop. By doing so the person who has referred people will get paid according to the number of people they have convinced to join.

A person can get paid to surf as an option of working from home and can spend his leisure time productively. At the same time, he can enjoy by working along with environmental groups or indulging in activities like yoga. The main idea is to earn money through the internet and in turn give back the society in terms of good deeds.

A person can get a sustained income from surfing the net by following a step by step procedure in getting in touch with the masses. The main aim of the whole concept is to be able to connect with as many people as possible and to help others to get rid of problems. Many people like to work, make money in their free time and also do business with a sense of pride. It helps in connecting with people as well as lives the dream life of the surfer.

THE IMPORTANCE OF BODY LANGUAGE

SHAKE HANDS THE PROPER WAY

One of the first things youll probably do in an interview is shake hands with your interviewer. The handshake is a simple symbol of introduction. But it can also be an unspoken gauge of personality. Hiring managers say that while a limp or unenthusiastic handshake wont destroy an interview, it can cause one to start off on a bad note. The same goes for a sweaty palm. To alleviate the latter problem, be sure to keep your hands open, not balled into fists, prior to your interview. This will reduce perspiration. Put a handkerchief or a few tissues in your pocket, just in case. Also remember that while a limp handshake is bad, a bone-breaking handshake isnt much better. Clasp your interviewers hand firmly and confidently, but dont overdo.

MAINTAIN EYE CONTACT

A lack of eye contact during an interview can lead your interviewer to think that youre shy, disinterested, or dishonest. Likewise, shifting your eyes to and from the interviewers face can also send the wrong message. Its no wonder shifty-eyed is a term used to describe a character who is deceitful or insincere. While you dont want to stare at your interviewer to the point making him uncomfortable, do maintain eye contact as much as seems appropriate. If you are speaking to more than one interviewer, you can shift your gaze, but be sure to look each interviewer in the eye for at least a couple of seconds.

WATCH YOUR BODY LANGUAGE

The term body language includes just about any manner, gesture, or posture that conveys meaning to the observer. Body language is especially meaningful in an interview as your interviewer will be paying attention to nonverbal cues as much as to what you have to say Body language to avoid in an interview includes repeatedly crossing and uncrossing your legs or arms, fiddling with your hair or clothes, touching your face, scratching your head, or playing with a button or pen. Constant or bold gesturing is also to be avoided. Some of these mannerisms may be triggered by nervousness. Interview preparation and rehearsal may help you to feel more relaxed. Body language that might give your interview a boost includes leaning forward slightly to show your enthusiasm and nodding whenever is appropriate, particularly when your interviewer is making an important point.

SMILE WHEN YOU MEAN IT

Smiling, the universal sign of happiness, is a great way to convince your interviewer that youre genuinely pleased to be there. On the other hand, an oversized or artificial grin used too often during the interview will lead to the opposite result. Your interviewer will know youre forcing yourself to act a certain way.

According to Discover Magazine, when a person is sincerely amused, a part of the brain called the basal ganglia is activated, leading to the unconscious contracting of certain facial muscles. A forced smile, however, uses a different group of muscles, which is why its generally easy to spot a person who is legitimately pleased from one who is only pretending to be.

During an interview, be sure to smile-but only when you mean it. Its infinitely better to smile occasionally but earnestly than to smirk constantly for no reason at all.

BE MINDFUL OF PERSONAL SPACE

Individual cultures and even individual people have different interpretations of what constitutes an appropriate amount of personal space. While one person might feel at ease speaking only inches from someones face, another person might need several feet of separation. When facing your interviewer, be mindful of how close you stand or sit. Try to maintain a distance of about three feet. Communicating at a closer range may cause your interviewer to feel uncomfortable. On the other hand, sitting or standing too far away is also impolite.

Spelling and Grammar – A simple but much overlooked detail. These errors are the tell-tale sign of carelessness and laziness. Make sure you have your resume proof read for spelling and grammar errors before sending it out. An independent third party can see mistakes you’ve overlooked several times. Make sure you watch your abbreviations and avoid slang and excessive use of duplicate words.

Too Long – Employers read a lot of resumes. Keep to the point. Resumes that are too long are probably filled with non-pertinent information. Stays focused and keep it to one page. You don’t need to write complete sentences or paragraphs.

Difficult Reading – Watch your font type, paper color, asterisks, and bullets. Make sure it flows and is easy to read. The reader should enjoy reading your resume, not struggling through it. Try and say as much possible with as few words as possible.

Job Specific – If your resume is too generic it will appear that you’ll settle for any job available. You’re trying to make a good fit to a specific position within a company. One that youre best qualified for over the other candidates. In order to accomplish this, you need to be specific in your objections and accomplishments.
Including

Non Essential Information – Omit your personal information like marriage status, children, religion, height, weight, etc.

Too Modest – Your resume is a sales tool. Be bold and assertive without being arrogant or supercilious. Make sure your resume is factual and truthful. There’s a lot of competition with other applicants so make sure you resume shines!
